Over twelve years ago, I started Platiquemos with the vision of bringing the benefits of the Foreign Service Institute program to ordinary Americans from all walks of life.  Well over a thousand satisfied students later, our program is expanding nationally--and internationally..

If you are a person who needs -- or just wants-- to be able to really communicate in Spanish, we can help.  Because we utilize our own adaptation of   what many believe to be the best program ever developed to teach English speakers to speak Spanish, we can guarantee results.  Our links with language schools in the Spanish-speaking world means that you can continue in the same progressive, structured program while gaining the important benefits of immersion.

We would particularly like to hear from people who would like to help establish the Platiquemos program in their area in the United States (you don't have to be a Spanish teacher; but you need some knowledge of Spanish, enthusiasm, and organizational abilities.)  We are also looking for schools in Latin America (and Spain) who would be interested in exploring the possibility of joining our expanding network of cooperating schools.  The benefits for both the schools -- and most importantly the students -- can be immense.

Starting with no knowledge of any foreign language at the age of 20, I had achieved Foreign Service Institute-tested professional proficiency in five languages 15 years later.  Having experienced most of the ways there are to learn languages -- college classes, private schools, on-your-own immersion -- I agree with Secretary Eagleburger that the Foreign Service Institute program is simply incomparable.  I believe that Platiquemos's adaptation of the Program offers an unparalleled opportunity.
