Extras
Articles, Music, and Jokes

Part of the purpose of this website is to provide information and resources to people who are learning Spanish.

One way we believe this can be done is by providing articles about the language and/or history and culture of the Spanish-speaking world.  Some are here, and we'll be producing more.

Also, we'll be providing some music samples with transcriptions in Spanish, translations, and notes about the performer, song, etc.
The list of songs is here.  The songs will be in the "Cantemos"
format, you can learn more about "Cantemos" here.

We also have a page of the weekly jokes from our home page.  Each joke is given in Spanish, translation, and why it is funny explained.  Also some cultural information brought up in the jokes.

The latest addition is a selection of Dichos y Refranes (Sayings and Proverbs).  It is here.

We hope that you will both benefit from and enjoy these "extras".

The "ghostwriter" who actually writes the articles using the pen name Don Casteel.

I lied again.  This is actually Sor (Sister) Juana Inés de la Cruz, the Mexican nun who was the preeminent literary figure in Spain's new world colonies.  She is said to have entered a convent because of a lost love.   Since she lived about 400 years ago, if she were writing now it would give new meaning to the term "ghost" writer.
