*Decepción is a false cognate, which English speakers can easily misuse. Here is the entry for decepción from Part II of our article on false cognates (falsos amigos). (Part II in its enirety will be posted January 2)

Decepción Disappointment. "Deception" is engaño. Desengañada/o means "disillusioned". Likewise, decepcionar is "to disappoint", and decepcionado means "disappointed". If you listen to Latin music, you'll hear a lot about decepcionados and decepcionadas.

Por mujeres como tú is a classic Latin song about love--and disappointments in love. I believe that this song will be a classic, and will still be played fifty years from now.

Pepe Aguilar is the son of two of Mexico's most famous entertainers: Antonio Aguilar, who in addition to being one of the most popular mariachi singers ever made dozens of movies; and Flor Silvestre, primarily known as an actress. Flor Silvestre is a stage name, and translates as "Wild Flower".

Pepe Aguilar was baptized José. Pepe is the standard nickname for José in the Spanish-speaking world. Like "Jack" for "John" in Engllish, Pepe isn't obviously related to José. More of these standard nicknames for Spanish first names are in Platiquemos Level I.
