Quizzes
A rough measure of your proficiency
and help deciding where to start with Platiquemos

Many people interested in the Platiquemos Program aren't complete beginners.  Where to begin with a structured program like Platiquemos is a bit of a dilemma.  We've developed a series of short (15-16 questions) multiple-choice quizzes to help you decide which Level would be right for you.  This kind of quiz isn't ideal for a primarily oral-communication based program, but we're stuck with the limitations of cyberspace.  Only a small part of the Program consists of translation, but in order to direct questions at specific structural issues as addressed in the Program, we've found this to be best for the multiple choice format.  The questions are all taken directly from the Program, and the reference for each question shows from which unit it was taken.   There are no "trick" questions, and we've tried to avoid ambiguity.

These quizzes are intended solely for your use, and don't pretend to be a comprehensive "test" of your knowledge.  If you're curious, a rough estimation of the relationship of the Platiquemos levels to the most widely-used proficiency scales is here.  We hope you find the quizzes useful, and as always welcome your comments and/or criticism.

This guy flunked the
Level I quiz three times!!
Seriously, this is a pottery portrait jug from the Mochicha culture of Peru.  He was an official of some kind who broke the rules and was punished by having his nose and lips removed.  Also probably as a warning to others.

Illustration from Platiquemos Level II.
